Today, on October 26, the server of Kingdom under Fire 2 were switched off. The game offered an interesting mix of RTS and MMORPG content. It was awaited yearning before the release, but disappointed. Many players give the German Publisher Gameforge a complicity.
Kingdom Under Fire 2 is dead. Both Steam and the GameForge client were switched off the servers of the game at 10:00 in German. Now there is no chance to play the MMO from Blueside in the west.
Why was it turned off? An official reason did not call the Publisher GameForge. However, the small number of players should have been a big problem:
On Steam in September on average only 14 players were online at the same time. In the peak, it was just 37 at the same time (via steamcharts). How many players of the GameForge client had unknown, but the number should not have been much greater for the experience we made ourselves at the beginning of 2020 in the game.
Kingdom Under Fire came to the release even quite well. The reviews were 77% positive and praised the mix of round strategy and MMORPG. In addition, the game was not pay2win and in the endgame there were some crisp challenges.
We also from Meinmmo were positively surprised by the game at a first player event:
But even shortly after the release, the players criticized missing content replenishment and to slow fixes of bugs. In addition, KUF2 only appeared 7 years after his release in Korea in the west.
Some players therefore give the Publisher Gameforge a complicity of the death of the game.
Congratulations to GameForge that you have messed this game
What do the players say? Some players have negatively expressed some players to the attitude of Kingdom Under Fire and GameForge:
The user Cakewalk writes: Congratulations to GameForge that you have messed up this game. You have paid for it to publish it in EU / US and have managed to scare the player s 3 weeks after the launch. Grieves Amori also sees the mistake at GameForge: I knew it after a few months, since you never published new content. Of course, people would lose interest if nothing changed. Also, JOR is dissatisfied with the western version: You have messed up the start of the game and now nobody can gamble more. People have been waiting for so long and now it is closed 2 years after release. That s a joke. Fuck on GameForge .
Does GameForge really blame on the downfall of KUF2? That s hard to say, because actually there were no big content updates for the MMO after it was released. Only some new dungeons and a new PVP content came directly after the release. After that it was completely quiet in terms of further development.
Kingdom Under Fire 2 was also buy2play, which represents a hurdle for new players.
However, the game has failed in other regions, with which Gameforge had nothing to do:
2014 Kingdom Under Fire appeared in Malaysia and was expelled there from Mmogasia. In turn, the game started again in April 2017. The developers announced a version for the PS4 2013, which was never published. She is still standing on the Korean website of blueside as soon available . In Russia there was a beta in the spring of 2017, but a release of the full game has never happened afterwards. There was also a beta in China. However, nothing can be found about a finished release version for this region.
As the Korean version goes - and whether there is still one - is not quite clear. In the top 50 of the game charts, it is not to be found in any case and also the official website of the developer blueside does not offer a download option.
This is particularly bitter, considering that the development has increased over $ 78 million, which made it in the meantime to the most expensive MMORPG from Korea.
More about MMORPGS on MeinmMo:
MMORPG appeared in 2019 on Steam and became a flop - now announces large 2.0 version The 15 currently best MMOS and MMORPGS 2021 The 7 MMORPGs with the best Housing in 2021
What the players hope? Many fans of Kingdom Under Fire 2 hope that from the MMO again becomes a singleplayer version or that KUF3 is published as a single player in the future. Because the basic gameplay with the RTS elements came very well with them.
Did you play Kingdom Under Fire 2? And keep it right or bad in memory? Write it in the comments.
KUF2 was not the first MMO that died this year. The first game even blessed the time in January:
The first MMO died 2021 - so failed Life is feudal: MMO
